Mandelic Acid for Body Acne
Mandelic Acid is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid reknowned for its ability to exfoliate and renew the skin. Unlike other Alpha Hydroxy Acids used in skin care (such as glycolic and lactic acids), Mandelic Acid is also an effective antibiotic. For this reason Mandelic Acid has excellent results in the treatment of acne. It can improve inflammatory pustular, comedonal, and papular acne and has been shown to be effective even in individuals resistant to antibiotics. Results can be visible within days of starting a mandelic acid skincare regime.
Ultralase 12.5% Mandelic Acid Body Gel can be used on any areas of body acne. Its helps to reduce acne causing bacteria, and clear away conjestion causing dead skin. Recommended treatment is 1-2 times a week.
Mandelic Acid for Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation
Mandelic acid has a proven track record in treating various types of hyperpigmentation, and is espcially effective at clearing up post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Care should be taken to protect the treated area from sun exposure throughout treatment, as sun exposure will counteract the treatment. Recommended application is 3 to 4 times weekly to affected areas. Hyperpigmented patches will also benefit from a light buffing with a brush or body scrub, which helps to remove any excess dead skin loosened by the mandelic acid treatment.
Mandelic Acid for Keratosis Pilaris
Mandelic Acid's exfolaiting action makes it ideal for treating keratosis pilaris, which is the name given to rough, bumpy 'goose bumps' on areas of the body. Keratosis pilaris is caused by a build of keratin in the hair follicles, which can be difficult to remove through mechanical exfoliation alone. Mandelic Acid targets the build up of these plugs at source. Recommended application of Ultralase 12.5% Mandelic Acid Body Gel for keratosis pilaris is 1-2 times a week on troublesome patches. For keratosis pilaris we also offer an 8% Polyhdroxy Acid Lotion which is suitable for daily use and softens and smoothes rough, bumpy body skin.
Ultralase Mandelic Acid Body Gel should be applied to affected areas 1-3 times a week. Ultralase Mandelic Acid Body Gel is a concentrated treatment designed to be applied only to affected zones. Overuse may cause excessive exfoliation. If peeling occurs discontinue use for one week. For general all-over body application use our Ultralase 8% PHA Body Lotion. As with all Alpha Hydroxy Acid treatments Mandelic Acid can increase UV sensitivity. Use sun protection and avoid excessive sun exposure throughout treatment.
Ultralase 12.5% Mandelic Acid Body Gel is designed to spot-treat problem zones, such as areas with body acne, patches of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation and keratosis pilaris. Mandelic acid is well suited to all ethnic skin types, being less irritating than glycolic acid (depsite the fact that mandelic acid is a stronger acid!) Ultralase 12.5% Mandelic Acid Body Gel should not be used on sensitive or broken skin, and is not advised for active eczema.
