Ageing How To Guides

Ishtar’s Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Mother’s Day is upon us, and it’s time to treat your mum or the mother figure in your life. We’ll preface this by saying we do prefer experiences over things. An afternoon tea, the movies, a leisurely lunch, a spa day, you can’t go wrong with any of these. If you are on a budget, it is easy to do most of these at home. Our point is – spend some time with your mum!

However, if you would still like to treat your mum to something nice and need some inspiration, take a look at our Mother’s Day Gift Guide. That said, if you are unsure which product to choose for your mum, please do get in touch, we’d be happy to help!

Unmask Cleansing Oil

Our mums are obsessed with Unmask Cleansing oil and would prefer to have it on tap. It is a gentle, soap-free formula that removes stubborn makeup and sunscreen.

Macadamia oil is similar to Jojoba oil and feels extremely pleasant on the skin. Natural oils, esters, and emulsifiers work with the skin’s oils to remove impurities and dissolve sebum without stripping the skin of its protective layer. Unmask Cleansing oil is delicately fragranced with natural extracts.

If your mum has dry and dehydrated skin and would prefer something richer and unscented, consider Thistle & Oat Cleansing Oil. It is formulated without silicones, mineral oil, or artificial preservatives. Thistle & Oat Cleansing oil is made from 100% Ecocert vegan ingredients.

Bioactive 2.5% Retinol serum

No skincare routine is complete without a retinol serum. Our Bioactive 2.5% Retinol serum uses Rovisome technology to encapsulate retinol in a biocompatible natural membrane. It is one of the most effective and potent ways of delivering retinol to the skin, as the molecule retains its potency.

Bioactive 2.5% Retinol serum also contains Prickly Pear extract to soothe and hydrate the skin and Hydrolyzed Glycosaminoglycans to hydrate and minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Prep & Glow PHA Toner

A gentle exfoliating toner is another excellent addition to any skincare routine. Our Prep & Glow PHA Exfoliating toner contains 7% D-Gluconic acid and has a pH of 3.5.

D-Gluconic acid is a Polyhydroxy acid, which has the same benefits as Alpha-Hydroxy acid but is less sensitising on the skin. It hydrates, increases cell turnover, improves skin texture and reduces oxidative stress. It’s a fab acid for more mature skins that might find Glycolic acid too harsh or drying.

Time CODE Anti-aging Moisturiser

Don’t know about your mums, but ours are obsessed with moisturisers. On a side-note – they go through moisturiser so quickly, it’s like they are slapping it on with a trowel!

Anyone with more mature skin will love our Time CODE Anti-Aging Moisturiser. It combines elasticity boosting Copper PCA with Ectoin to deliver a Copper Optimised Dermal Extremolyte (C.O.D.E.)

Cooper PCA also acts as a “super antioxidant”, diminishes redness and regulates moisture in the skin. Ectoin has many benefits for the skin – it creates a protective hydro-complex, counteracts photoaging, minimises wrinkles and defends against environmental pollution.

Multi-Ceramide Concentrate

As we age, our skin gets drier. If your mum has sensitive skin or problems with her moisture barrier, she’ll love our Multi-Ceramide Concentrate. It combines skin-identical lipids, sterols, and fatty acids to soothe, replenish, and moisturise.

Multi-Ceramide Concentrate uses a Phytosterol complex (that includes cholesterol, stigmasterol, beta-sitosterol, and campesterol). When applied topically they soothe irritated skin, reduce roughness and improve hyperpigmentation.

Another star ingredient is the complex of isolated plant derived ceramides. They improve the structure of collagen and elastin, smooth mimic wrinkles and reduce the signs of aging, as well as protect the skin.

Lip Plenish Line Renewal Serum

Our mums can’t get enough of the Lip Plenish Line Renewal serum. Lips easily show the signs of aging and our lip serum was formulated to help minimise that.

Star ingredient is Hexapeptide 11, which reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by up-regulating collagen, Hyaluronic acid, and lipids. Tripeptide 29 increases fibroblast activity for ‘Collagen 1’ synthesis by a massive 400%.

Another great ingredient in the formula is microencapsulated anhydrous Hyaluronic Acid. By using natural liposomes, anhydrous Hyaluronic acid is carried into the upper layers of the lip. There it slowly hydrates and reduces the appearance of fine lines. A vitamin combo (includes vitamins A, C, and E) protects the lips against the daily environmental stress, while a blend of micronutrient-rich oils softens and locks in the moisture.
