There are lots of factors that go into formulating an effective skincare product. Some ingredients are very ‘active’ but are very unstable (e.g L-ascorbic acid, the common form of Vitamin C ), others can only be added to a product in such miniscule amounts that they can never be very effective, and some potentially great sounding ingredients simply cannot be absorbed easily by the skin (e.g Ascorbyl Palmitate – another common version of Vitamin C – suffers from both of these limitations). Getting a product that feels nice and is ‘active’ is therefore a complex balancing act.
This only gets harder if you throw the requirement for ethically and/or organically sourced ingredients into the mix!
Palm oil and Palm oil derivatives – of which there are many – is a good case in point. Whilst our lab sources sustainably sourced palm oil it has been notoriously difficult in recent years to verify sources. The further removed you are from the original sources the harder it becomes. Thankfully due to campaigning this is becoming easier.
To try and demystify some of the ingredients you will see on our product labels we are compiling a list with a breakdown of individual ingredients. We will be adding ingredients to this category over the coming weeks.

There are a few changes at Ishtar Skinlights this month: To get you order speeding on its way to you as quickly as possible, all orders placed before 1pm will now be dispatched same day.
Small P&P charge for UK Customers from July 29th: We have been absorbing increases in the cost of postage and postage supplies for a while to keep our UK P&P free. However, this is getting harder to do, especially if we want to improve our service. So we are introducing a small £1.75 P&P charge per order. This still very low: it is just enough to allow us to implement same day dispatch.
International Customers: At the moment international orders are processed separately and go out twice weekly. Hopefully this will be speeded up by integrating the international deliveries with the daily dispatches. There may be a small increase in standard airmail services when this happens.
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF FREE SAME DAY UK SHIPPING UNTIL JULY 29th
Same day shipping on UK orders is now in full swing!! However, we are not introducing the new P&P charge until after July 29th …So if you were thinking of placing an order in the next week or two, make sure you get it in before midnight on Friday 29th if you want to take advantage of free postage.

We will be adding a new card payment option to the checkout this month which should make checking out with credit cards simpler. Don’t worry if you prefer Paypal as we will still be offering paypal checkout as an option. We are also looking into getting a dedicated telephone ordering line in place so that orders can be taken over the phone.
Happily we were also able to give a permanent price cut on the liquid mineral makeup…Yes, there actually is such a thing as a nice cut. If only I could report something similar about bank bonuses 
We have a couple of new colours coming into stock this month – including a lovely medium-dark shade with a neutral undertone, so if the Elm was too yellow/orange for you then this will be worth checking out.
